We are thrilled to share some incredible news with the Good Hope Middle School community—our School Counseling Program has officially been recognized as a 2025 Alabama Program of Distinction! 🏆

This is not just a certificate or a plaque—it’s one of the most prestigious and difficult recognitions a school counseling program in Alabama can earn. The criteria are rigorous, and the review process is extensive, focusing on alignment with national best practices and a demonstrated commitment to student achievement, emotional wellness, and overall school impact.

This accomplishment is a reflection of our entire school community—because strong counseling programs thrive in schools where the whole staff believes in supporting the whole child. GHMS strives to foster a culture where students feel safe, supported, and known.

And we can’t go without recognizing our school counselor, Mrs. Laura Rankhorn. This award is a direct reflection of her passion for student growth and purpose in action.

Hey Upcoming Eighth Graders! When you head out to get your school supplies, use this updated list. We added the 1 subject notebook you'll see at the top of this list. We're counting down the days until we get to see you!

Are you wanting to enroll a new Good Hope Raider? We will be enrolling and withdrawing students on July 8 and 9. If you need to enroll a student, make sure to bring the student's birth certificate, social security card, shot records, proof of residence, and withdrawal paperwork from your child's previous school. We're excited to meet you!

We are interrupting your summer break to bring you some important school supply information! Save these lists so you'll have them when the back to school sales start. Now... get back to enjoying your summer!

Mark Your Calendar! Our awards day will be Monday , May 19 at 8:00 a.m. You will be notified if your child is receiving an award.

Have you heard about the GHMS Penny Wars? Check out the details on the graphic! All money raised will be sent to South Sudan to build wells through the Water for South Sudan Organization. Check under the couch and in between those seat cushions! Make sure to read the rules to figure out how to be strategic with your coins!

GHMS Spring Picture Day tomorrow (Thursday)!

We are excited to host author Michelle Norwood at GHMS tomorrow (March 4). She is the author of the books Stars in my Eyes and Super Powers. Students can purchase the books for $20 each. To order please fill out the book form and return it to the school office. Tomorrow Michelle and her son Hunter, who was born with Down Syndrome, will be selling ice cream from their ice cream truck for $4.  Please send $4 if your child wants an ice cream.

Good Hope Middle will be dismissing early today. The car rider line will begin at 2:00 and buses will run at 2:10.

Just a reminder: Our LifeSouth blood drive will be going on at GHMS until 4pm this afternoon. Mention a student's name, and that student will get a snow cone plus you will get a $25 gift card!

Join us tomorrow (Thursday) for our blood drive sponsored by LifeSouth! Any student who has someone donate on his/her behalf will receive a snow cone! Lifesouth will be at GHMS from 9am-4pm.

Our Scholars Bowl team is competing at the STATE LEVEL today!!! We are so proud of you all, and we hope you can hear us cheering you on all the way from Good Hope!
